In 2018, I discovered a gem – the Nordic Business Forum, a conference I now eagerly attend each year. It’s a place teeming with global thought leaders, from Brené Brown to Tim Ferriss, Malala Yousafzai, Scott Galloway and Amy Webb. This year, I’m particularly excited to meet Bozoma Saint John, a former Chief Marketing Officer at Netflix, Uber and Apple. Her journey as a Black female leader and entrepreneur is nothing short of inspirational. She will definitely make a special mark in this year’s #NBFforum (Helsinki 2024).
Last year’s forum was a treasure trove of insights, especially about leadership. As we step into 2024, these lessons feel more relevant than ever. Here are the top seven leadership trends that emerged:
Courage Over Comfort: Leaders need to embrace vulnerability and take risks. It’s about showing up, even when the outcome is uncertain.
Fostering a Learning Culture: Encourage a culture where questioning and rethinking are norms. It’s about being open to new ideas and willing to change.
Redefining ‘Work Smarter’: Prioritize tasks that add the most value. It’s not just about working hard, but focusing on what truly matters.
Authentic Leadership: Be true to yourself and your values. Authentic leaders inspire trust and create more engaged teams.
Tech Savviness: Stay abreast of emerging technologies. Understanding and leveraging new tools is crucial in today’s fast-paced world.
Values-Based Leadership: Align your actions with your core values. This approach fosters a culture of accountability and purpose.
Employee Well-being: Prioritize the mental and physical health of your team. A healthy team is more productive and innovative.
These insights are not just theoretical; they are practical steps to transform leadership. As I eagerly anticipate this year’s forum, I’m reminded of the power of learning and growing together. Leaders, let’s take these lessons to heart and drive meaningful change in our organizations.
