My blog tis months is inspired on something I recently notice in a room with over 7,000 thorough leaders in Helsinki, Finland. Leaders often misunderstand trust, technology, and performance. Only 6 percent of companies fully trust AI agents to autonomously run core business processes. This insight comes from a 2025 research report by Harvard Business Review Analytic Services, based on a global survey of business and technology leaders. The gap between AI enthusiasm and real trust is wide.
The data tells a clear story.
- Most organizations experiment with AI. Few are ready to let it decide.
- Only 20 percent report their infrastructure is ready.
- Only 15 percent trust their data.
- Only 12 percent feel governance and risk controls are in place.
- AI adoption outpaces human readiness.
This is why the human factor matters more, not less.
At the Nordic Business Forum in Helsinki, the theme says it plainly. The human edge. In conversations with CEOs and senior leaders, one tension dominates. How do we scale AI without losing judgment, accountability, and trust. The answer is not more technology. It is stronger human leadership around it.
I see this across global organizations I work with. Leaders assume AI will fix speed, efficiency, and decision quality. In reality, weak foundations amplify risk. Poor data. Unclear accountability. Leaders who delegate thinking too early. AI does not replace judgment. It exposes its absence.
Organizations that succeed treat AI as augmentation, not substitution. Humans set intent. Humans define boundaries. Humans remain accountable for impact on customers, finances, and people.
In October, my work spans China, the Nordics, and Switzerland. I will speak for global organizations navigating AI adoption across sectors. The strongest leaders I meet share one trait. They invest as much in human capability as in technology.
The future of work is not human versus AI. It is human with AI, led by clarity, ethics, and responsibility.
How you can make a difference and intention for 2026:
• Define where human judgment must always stay in your organization.
• Audit one AI use case for accountability and decision ownership.
Two long term actions I suggest:
• Build leadership capability around AI governance and decision quality.
• Invest in data, trust, and human skills before scaling automation.
